ATS Grants Candidacy to Graduate School of Theology

At its February 7-8, 2019, meeting, the Board of Commissioners of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) unanimously voted CDU’s Graduate School of Theology a Candidate for Accreditation. Founded in 1918, ATS accredits more than 270 graduate schools of theology and most Catholic seminaries in the United States and Canada. Member schools offer post-baccalaureate professional and academic degree programs to educate students for the practice of ministry and for teaching and research in the theological disciplines. Higher Learning Commission Grants Candidacy to CDU

At its meeting on November 1, 2018, the Board of Trustees of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) named Catholic Distance University (CDU) a Candidate for Accreditation. Founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States, HLC is the largest of the regional accreditors, accrediting 1,000 colleges and universities in the North Central region. CATHOLIC DISTANCE UNIVERSITY TO CELEBRATE 35 YEARS IN 2018

CHARLES TOWN, WV—Catholic Distance University will celebrate its 35th year in 2018. Founded in 1983 as the first catechetical institute in the United States to award the Catechetical Diploma and teach the Catholic faith to adults using distance education, today the university offers degree and continuing education programs completely online, continuing its commitment to provide a faithful Catholic education accessible anytime and anywhere. ATS Grants Associate Membership to Graduate School of Theology

Catholic Distance University’s Graduate School of Theology was granted associate membership in the Association of Theological Schools at the accrediting agency’s biennial meeting in Denver, Colorado, on June 20th. Associate membership is the first step toward full accreditation by ATS. Read full story.

Fr. deLadurantaye Named to Vatican Secretariat of State

The Arlington Catholic Herald Father Paul F. deLadurantaye, executive director of the St. Thomas More Institute and diocesan secretary for catechetics and sacred liturgy, has been appointed to the English section of the Vatican Secretariat of State for five years beginning Sept. 1, 2018. Catholic Distance University supports the media in its effort to inform the public about CDU, online education, and the Catholic Church as a whole.  The office of the communications director oversees this effort to demonstrate how the dynamic mission of CDU succeeds at serving the community by educating future leaders, promoting the search for truth and intellectual discipline, and transforming hearts and mind through the living word of God.

The office of the communications director also assists the media in locating faculty experts who can provide a disinterested, third-party statement to clarify contemporary issues in the news.
