Transferring Credit To

Catholic International

Catholic International University may accept transfer credits from educational institutions accredited by agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. All transfer credit is reviewed and approved by Academic Leadership and must meet the following general criteria:

  • Courses must be at the 100 level or higher

  • The number of credits accepted varies by program

  • Additional program-specific requirements may apply

Program-Specific Transfer Credit Limits

  • Associate of Arts in Theology and Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts:
    Maximum of 30 transfer credits

  • Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts:
    Maximum of 60 transfer credits

  • Master of Arts in Ecclesial Administration and Management:
    All courses must be taken at Catholic International; exceptions may be considered by the program director

  • Master of Arts in Theology and Master of Arts in Theology and Educational Ministry:
    Maximum of 6 transfer credits
    (Credits must be graduate-level theology, earned within the past 5 years with a minimum GPA of 3.0; exceptions may be considered by the program director)

  • Master of Arts in Liberal Arts Education:
    Up to 12 credits may be accepted from an accredited institution or from the Institute for Liberal Arts Education Catholic Educator Formation and Credential Program; subject to review by the program director

Credit by Examination

Students may also earn credit through standardized examinations, including:

  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

  • Advanced Placement (AP)

  • DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST)

  • International Baccalaureate (IB)

Students who wish to transfer credits earned at Catholic International University to another institution should note that transfer credit decisions are made by the receiving institution. We strongly recommend checking with your intended college or university prior to enrolling at Catholic International to confirm which credits will be accepted.
