Catholic International University Receives Distinguished Raskob Foundation Grant to Support Prison Ministry Program

Catholic International University is honored to announce that it has been awarded a generous grant from the Raskob Foundation for Catholic Activities, Inc. The grant, officially awarded on December 4, 2024, will provide critical funding to expand and enhance Catholic International’s impactful Prison Ministry Program, which brings faith, education, and hope to incarcerated individuals across the United States.

About the Raskob Foundation

The Raskob Foundation for Catholic Activities, Inc., established in 1945, is a private family foundation dedicated to supporting the spiritual, educational, and charitable works of the Catholic Church. The Foundation’s grants have empowered countless initiatives worldwide, advancing the Church’s mission to serve others.

About Catholic International’s Prison Ministry Program

Catholic’s Prison Ministry Program is fueled by the transformative power of education and faith. The program currently has a presence in 46 states at some level in county and state prisons and detention centers. As of October 29, 2024, the program’s impact includes:

  • Lesson Engagements:
    • Lessons Started: 2,512,063
    • Lessons Completed: 2,192,472
    • Completion Rate: 87%
  • Facilities:
    • Facilities Live: 1,093
    • Facilities Pending Deployment: 192
  • Re-Entry Program:
    • Gatekeepers Re-Entry Program Graduates: 7,731 (including 396 who completed the Spanish version of the program).

The Gatekeepers Re-Entry Program offers a 14-step pathway to prepare inmates for life after incarceration. Through Catholic International University and the Order of Malta, this program has been made available to all Learners in 46 states. Learners who complete the program can receive:

  • A paper certificate of completion from Gatekeepers.
  • Certificates and transcripts documenting their completed lessons, which can be presented to courts during parole hearings and other official processes.
