About Michael J. Morris, PhD

Michael J. Morris is a Catholic biblical scholar, author, and educator who holds a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from the University of Dublin, Trinity College. His academic research focuses on Second Temple Judaism, demonology in ancient Judaism and Christianity, and the Dead Sea Scrolls. He has over a decade of experience teaching Scripture and theology for universities and faith formation programs. Dr. Morris currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Sacred Scripture at Holy Apostles College and Seminary and teaches Biblical Studies and Catholic Theology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He previously served as Assistant Professor of Theology at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, and has also taught for the lay and permanent diaconate divisions at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, CO. His academic work has been published in Catholic Biblical Quarterly and Dead Sea Discoveries, and he is the author of the scholarly monograph Warding Off Evil: Apotropaic Tradition in the Dead Sea Scrolls and Synoptic Gospels (Mohr Siebeck, 2017). In addition to his academic research, Dr. Morris has contributed faith-based writing to the Augustine Institute’s Bible in a Year and Word of Life curriculum projects. He has presented his scholarship at international conferences including The Enoch Seminar and The Society of Biblical Literature. He is passionate about helping students encounter the living God through Scripture and the sacramental life of the Church.
