Hernán Carvallo is an AI & Education Strategy Consultant and educator with more than twenty
years of professional experience in teaching, school leadership, and digital learning innovation.
He currently serves as a Graduate Associate at Georgetown University’s Center for New Designs
in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS), where he supports faculty development, AI-enhanced
instructional design, and the integration of generative AI into university teaching and operations.
He also worked as a Digital Education & AI Consultant for the Inter-American Development
Bank (IDB) last summer, contributing to regional analyses of AI-powered educational initiatives
across Latin America, designing AI literacy frameworks for policymakers, and leading high-
impact workshops on responsible and ethical adoption of AI in schools.
Hernán is the founder of IA para Educar in Chile-based, and Future Mind Institute, US-based
initiative through which he has trained more than 2,000 teachers and principals in practical,
responsible AI adoption. His work focuses on reducing psychological barriers to AI use,
strengthening faculty self-efficacy, and supporting institutional transformation through strategic
governance models.
Before transitioning fully into AI and higher education, Hernán served as Vice Principal at
Colegio Cordillera de Las Condes and Principal of Colegio Montemar, where he led strategic
planning, enrollment growth, academic improvement initiatives, and school governance reform.
He has also taught at the elementary, secondary, and higher-education levels, with experience in
curriculum design, ethics, educational leadership, and applied technology for learning.
His recent research includes the validation of the Teachers’ Acceptance of Artificial Intelligence
(TAAI) scale in Chile, the development of an AI Ombudsman model for university governance,
speculative research on institutional futures in the age of AI, and the design of AI-powered
educational tools such as chatbots and scenario simulators.
