Sofía Maurette, Ph.D., serves as Director of Continuing Education at Catholic International University, where she leads the University’s efforts to provide faithful, accessible, and academically rigorous formation for catechists, lay ecclesial ministers, parish leaders, educators, and all those seeking to deepen their knowledge of the Catholic faith in service to the Church.

Originally from Argentina, Dr. Maurette earned an M.A. from the University of Chicago Divinity School and a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from the University of Maryland. Before joining Catholic International University, Dr. Maurette served as Director of Intercultural Ministry at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Washington, D.C. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with Catholic communities and remains deeply committed to the Church’s universal mission and rich cultural diversity.

Dr. Maurette believes that lifelong formation is essential to the Church’s mission of evangelization. She is passionate about accompanying catechists, lay leaders, and ministry professionals as they grow in faith, deepen their understanding of the Catholic intellectual tradition, and become more effective witnesses to the Gospel in their families, parishes, schools, and communities.

She lives in Argentina with her husband and 6 children.
