About Francesca Mirti, D.A.

Dr. Francesca Mirti, educator and researcher, holds a doctorate from Stony Brook
University. Before coming to Catholic International she taught ten years at the undergraduate and graduate level and she is currently completing, in Spain, a Master’s degree for American educators of Spanish. She is currently collaborating with the Serafic Province of the Immaculate Conception of the Italian Capuchins to transcribe and translate from Spanish the pastoral letters of Mons. Eusebio S. Mari, Apostolic Vicar in Colombia during 1954-1965.

Dr. Mirti has taught Italian and French at Baylor University, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Penn State, the Colorado College, The College of New Jersey and the University of Texas at Austin. She also coordinated a lower division of Italian at Texas Tech University. Her main research interest focuses on the development of innovative methods to impact learning effectiveness and increase intercultural competence. She has authored and organized an international conference called In Nova Azione calling for unique instructional approaches to bring liveliness to foreign language studies in North America and presented, internationally, studies on foreign language learning through sport, performing arts, digital communication, food practices, and international cultural events where learners employed the target language with natives beyond the classroom.
