About Carole Brown, PhD

Carole Brown is the Director of the Office of New Evangelization in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. She is originally from South Dakota, and as a Catholic lay woman, has been involved in evangelization all her adult life. She earned an MA in Theology and Christian Ministry from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1997.  She went on to work at Franciscan University for eight years as the Director of Evangelistic Outreach, until 2004.  After that, Carole spent a year on mission in Europe with an ecumenical lay community.  Subsequently, she moved to Ireland, where she completed a year of study in Christian Spirituality in 2006, and went on to complete a PhD in Systematic Theology in 2010. Her dissertation is entitled “Crossing the Threshold of Faith: Pope John Paul II’s Approach to the Problem of the Conversion of the Baptized.” Along with that, she helped to start what is thought to be the first deliberately ecumenical radio station in the world, Spirit Radio.  She served there as editor until March of 2013 when she moved back to the USA. CDU is pleased to have Dr. Brown teach her course, Applied Catholic Spirituality, as her background and interests make her especially qualified.
