The privacy policy describes Catholic International University’s practices with respect to personal information provided to Catholic International University via the Application Portal, the Student Portal, the Faculty Portal, the Canvas mobile app, and when you visit our website. This Privacy Statement does not apply to your use of a third-party site linked to on this website. Please refer to the privacy statement of that third-party site to understand how they handle your personal information.

When and how do we collect your information?

Information You Provide to Us

Information is collected from you when you:

Request information about our degree or certificate programs. Your personal information is used to answer your questions and to contact you regarding your interest in our programs. It is not shared with outside parties.
Apply to become a student using our online applications. This personal information is collected and provided securely to our Admissions offices. Catholic International University keeps the information you provide confidential and uses it only for purposes related to your request. Upon your acceptance as a student at Catholic International University, our internal security policies govern the use and release of student information.
Register for events (such as the Annual Gala) using online registration. Information such as name, email address, phone number, and physical address may be requested. If you pay for event registration online, we may also collect a valid credit card number, expiration date and billing address, which we will use for the purpose of the single transaction only. Credit card information is not stored by us but it is used by the third- party provider that processes credit card transactions on our behalf to fulfill your request.

Order and pay for products online at our online bookstore. Information such as name, email address, phone number, and physical address may be requested. If you purchase one of our products, we may also collect a valid credit card number, expiration date and billing address, which we will use for the purpose of the single transaction only. Again, credit card information is not stored by us but it is used by the third-party provider that processes credit card transactions on our behalf to fulfill your request.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Catholic International University complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, better known as the Buckley Amendment or FERPA. This act generally provides that students have the right to access their educational records, and with limited exceptions, educational institutions cannot release educational records to non-school employees without consent of the student. In the event of conflict with Catholic International University’s online privacy policy, FERPA will govern.

Do we have security measures in place to protect your Personal Information?

Catholic International University takes steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access. While we take reasonable measures to protect the information you submit via the website against loss, theft, and unauthorized use, disclosure or modification, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. No internet, email, or mobile application transmission is ever fully secure or error free. Email or other messages sent through the website may not be secure. Your information can only be erased if your data is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, and we have no other legal ground for processing the data.

Section 1798.83 of the California Civil Code permits California residents to request from a business, with whom the California resident has an established business relationship, certain information about the types of personal information the business has shared with third parties for those third parties’ direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of the third parties with whom the business has shared such information during the immediately preceding calendar year. Children’s Personal Data

Our website is intended for users of all ages. If you are under the age 13, we will not process any of the personal data that you may have submitted to us until we have promptly received the express consent from your parent or legal guardian. If this consent is not promptly provided to us, any data that you may have submitted during the account creation process will be immediately purged from our system to make certain that we are not retaining any of your data.
