This course will present the basic outline of the Old Testament and trace the progress of salvation history through the main events that it presents and the covenants that God makes with humanity. This study will examine the story of Creation and the Fall, the Noahic Covenant, God’s promise to Abraham, Moses and the Exodus, conquest and kingship, national apostasy, the Prophets, the Exile and return. The student will examine key interpretive issues of Biblical study, be able to explain the theology that emerges from the Biblical revelation, the main Semitic concepts that are employed, and the central characters and events of the text.
