This is an individual capstone project where students will design a novel application utilizing AI and/or data science, with a specific focus on the prudent use and design of these technologies as they impact human attention and well-being. Adopting a human-centered design approach, students will explore ethical and human anthropological considerations, such as preserving human capacities (memory, will, attention, skill, etc.), enhancing human flourishing, and safeguarding mental health. The project will involve comprehensive product research, prototype development, and iterative testing, ensuring that the application aligns with human capabilities and promotes long-term positive outcomes. Students will be required to create and test their designs and defend their approach and design to a panel of faculty members, or invited industry partners. Prerequisite: all required courses
