Deacon Frederick Bartels received a Catechetical Diploma, BA in Theology, and MA in Theology and Educational Ministry from Catholic International University.
Deacon Bartels was ordained as a member of the clergy in August of 2013, and currently serves the Diocese of Pueblo as Parochial Deacon assigned to St. Joseph Church in Grand Junction, CO, where he was employed as Director of Religious Education and Liturgy from 2013 to 2016. Additionally, he is Chair of Theology at Catholic Online School and serves the Church as a Catholic educator in preparing students for the sacrament of confirmation, candidates through the OCIA process, training catechists, and facilitates adult faith formation and biblical studies classes. He regularly participates in the New Evangelization through the use of digital media as a contributing writer for various online publications. He is managing editor of Joy In Truth magazine and authored Dialogue With the Saints: Catholic Saint Stories to Catechize Youth, Teens, and Parents. He has appeared on “The Faith and Reason Show,” “Speakin’ With the Deacons,” and Catholic radio outlets. Deacon Bartels currently resides in Glade Park, CO, where he lives with his wife, Shelly.
