This applications course, part one of a two-part series, focuses on two essential languages in Data Science: R and SQL. Students will learn basic syntax, control structures, functions, and key libraries for each language, exploring their advantages, usage patterns, and limitations. The course also covers Hadoop and Spark for large-scale data analysis, teaching students to efficiently process big data. Hands-on experience with R and SQL is emphasized, culminating in a Capstone Project where students apply both languages to solve a complex data problem, showcasing their ability to leverage their strengths in tandem.
